The Machu Picchu by Car Tour (2 Days / 1 Night) is an alternative option created to provide greater access to the town of Aguas Calientes and reach the Machu Picchu citadel. On this journey, you will have the privilege of enjoying a scenic route surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and snow-capped mountains such as Chicon, Salkantay, and Veronica, showcasing the beauty of the Peruvian Andes. The route follows paved roads and offers the chance to interact with friendly local communities along the way.
Our journey begins with pickup from your respective hotels between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. We will then depart towards the Machu Picchu area. Along the way, you will enjoy views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, pass through different villages, and experience the changing climate from the Andes to the tropical jungle.
We will arrive in Santa Teresa, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch. Afterward, we will continue to Hydroelectrica, where our transportation will drop us off to begin a hike to Aguas Calientes, which takes approximately 2.5 hours. During the walk, a guide will accompany the group.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, your guide will take you to your accommodation (a hostel with a private bathroom and hot water). Later, you will have dinner, and after that, the guide will provide final instructions for your visit to the Machu Picchu citadel the following day.
Very early in the morning, around 4:00 a.m., we will begin our journey to the Machu Picchu citadel. The hike takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach the top, where you will witness the sunrise over Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival, you will enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours. After the guided visit, you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own.
Around 11:30 a.m., we will begin our return to Aguas Calientes and then continue to Hydroelectrica, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco. Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 9:30 p.m.
